Subject: Waroona District water conservation
Dear Members,
In response to current conditions and the need to conserve water, we will be implementing changes to our operational practices in Waroona.
As of 31 March 2026, the Waroona district water season will officially close due to lower dam levels.
Further to our previous update, we aim to end this irrigation season with a minimum target of 2.5GL (v 3.4GL in 2025) in the Waroona Dam. This will ensure we have enough stock water to last until winter inflows commence. Despite redirection of flows into the system to supplement supply to the Waroona District, the Waroona dam (as of March 16th) was sitting at 2,595GL. With over 15GL capacity, 17% storage is lower than we’d like at this stage of the season, and therefore have decided to close the season early.
Whilst surface irrigation will no longer be permitted, stock water can still be delivered.
These measures are designed to ensure the most efficient use of available water. Our goal is to maintain reliability while supporting sustainable water management for all members.
We encourage all members to review their own water use and adopt conservation practices wherever possible. Every effort contributes to preserving this vital resource.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to manage these challenges. We will continue to keep you informed as conditions evolve.
