The Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund provides a sustainable source of funding to help remote, rural and regional communities, and farmers, become more prepared for, and resilient to, the impacts of drought. The Fund is part of the Government’s Drought Response, Resilience and Preparedness Plan.

The Networks to Build Drought Resilience Program is one of the Fund’s foundation programs. It is designed to build community capacity by strengthening social and community networking, support, engagement and wellbeing.

The aim is to build an enduring resilience to the impacts of climate change, drought, and enhance the public good in agriculture-dependent communities.

Harvey Water seeks nominations for two vacancies on the South West Irrigation Management Cooperative Board, and one vacancy on the South West Irrigation Asset Cooperative Board.
 
The Boards, which are primarily made up from its Member base provides strategic input into Harvey Water’s operations.
 
Given our dual-cooperative structure, two separate Boards’ are maintained:

• South West Irrigation Asset Cooperative (SWIAC) – provides stewardship over the asset base; and
• South West Irrigation Management Cooperative (SWIMCO) – provides leadership to Harvey Water’s day to day trading activities.

 
Directorships typically carry a three year term. The vacancy (available through rotation) is:

​The Irrigation Season will commence on October 1 2021.
 
Rainfall and inflows over the recent winter months have contributed greatly to this seasons allocation resulting in a full allocation for the CRID, and 60% for the Northern dams.
 
Water Use Options
Harvey Water encourages all Members, especially those with a high water reliance to review their on farm practices to reflect the effects of a drying climate and to plan their water needs based on this year’s allocation. This extends to purchasing TWE early.   
 
There are two ways you can trade TWE, and in both cases you negotiate the sale price with the Buyer;
 

• Temporary Trade – sell some or all of your TWE for this season only, with Shares remaining in your ownership; or
• Permanent Trade – sell some or all of your Shares permanently.   As well as the Share price you will be reimbursed for any fixed charges you have paid in advance.  (Note: 10 Shares is the minimum allowable Shareholding in the Cooperative.)

 
Over use
We remind all Members to stay within allocation limits – overuse penalises every other Member of the Cooperative. The following penalties occur for every month a Member remains over their allocation;

• $150 administration fee; plus
• $1,000 per megalitre (pro rata) penalty for water consumed over and above allocation

The position will rotate through the various asset based and delivery operation areas of our responsibility, as such:

• Maintenance and construction tasks at a high standard, to instruction and within safety, time and budget parameters;
• Poly-welding duties (butt, EF and extrusion) on HDPE pipe and fittings;
• Install, repair or replace various types of operating and measuring devices;
• Concrete works and form work;
• Operate equipment safely;
• Other maintenance activities as directed.

Skills and Attributes
This role requires:

• Proficient time management, attention to detail  and organisation skills;
• Developed telephone etiquette / including the confidence to deal with customers and other stakeholders;
• Great attention to detail; 
• Developed keyboard and data input skills. 
• Excellent communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal);
• An understanding of MS Office (with MYOB experience being an advantage);

Salary Range
To be negotiated with the successful applicant, dependant on skills, qualifications, and experience.  A competitive base salary will be offered plus 14.5% superannuation.

• Be trained, certified and proficient in Welding Poly Pipe;
• Good communication skills;
• Time management skills;
• Good customer service skills.
