Important Announcement – Changes to Water Trading Practices

Harvey Water has a long history of compliance with the National Water Initiative.

With a drying climate and the challenges being experienced in the water space, the ACCC has suggested a wide range of changes which will effect impending legislation.  A key principle of this legislation will be ensuring there are systems in place that provide for open and transparent trading of water between Cooperative Members.

With this in mind, from 9th November 2020, water trading will take place via the Harvey Water Online Trading (HWOT) platform on the Harvey Water website.  This will apply to trading of temporary and permanent Tradable Water Entitlement (TWE) with the following exceptions:

• Shares included with the sale of land;
• Transfer of shares to immediate family members;
• Where TWE lease arrangements are in place.

To aid in the transition during the 2020/21 season only, we will allow ‘over the fence’ temporary trading to occur where there is historic precedent.

Over coming weeks, please keep an eye out for information on the website as these changes are bought into effect.  

Members can start preparing for online trading by registering on HWOT.  Get your HWOT package HERE or call into the Harvey Water office.
